When you start thinking about getting quotes for your house removal, you can often find that quotes can differ rather considerably from company to company. Unfortunately not all quotes you receive will be transparent and if you simply book the cheapest quote you may find yourself being charged additional fees to pay on the move day. To help prevent this, we’ve put together a list below of things to double check when you receive your quotes.
1. What is actually included?
Ensure the quote is totally clear about what is included within the price. This includes things like how many crew and vans will be arriving on move day, what time they will be arriving on site and then if there is a cut off time that they need to be gone from site before additional charges apply. Does your quote include furniture dismantling, loft emptying, packaging materials, or even a packing service? Most removal companies will include different pricing options for these so ensure you have the correct one. If you're unclear then ask for a quote breakdown.
2. Is insurance included within the price?
Any good removal company will ensure that they have suitable insurance in place for your move. Some higher value items will need to have add on insurance - ask your removal company about any extra cover required.
3. Is packaging material included?
If you’re removal company will be doing your pack and move then normally packing materials will be included within this price - if that isn’t clear in your quote it is worth asking. If you are packing yourself but are hiring boxes from your removal company ensure you are clear what the cost is for this. A good removal company will often have protective blankets, mattress covers and protective bags for artwork or TV’s but if you aren’t sure then it’s obviously worth asking to avoid confusion on move day!
4. Will I be charged for a cancellation?
Move dates can often change so it’s worth reading terms and conditions in advance to ensure you are clear what cancellation charges will be incurred should your move date be cancelled. Being able to rearrange your move free of charge is always preferable and it can prevent you from wasting your money but not all companies will offer this.
